About Us
Founded in 2023, BIPOC Adoptees is the only national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves individuals that hold the specific intersection of adoption (including former and current foster youth, those living with a legal guardian, and descendants of adoptees) and racially marginalized identities of all ethnic backgrounds. Adoption practices, narratives, and policies we are familiar with today are the byproduct of racial capitalism and saviorism - historically excluding our voices. BIPOC Adoptees is working with community members across the globe to build a movement for adoptee justice through storytelling and capacity building. Our board and broader organizing team is entirely made up of Black, Indigenous, and other adoptees of color, ensuring our work is reflective of the people we serve. Our intergenerational community of adoptees is incredibly diverse; it touches virtually all identity-based groups and has a significant presence of disabled, neurodiverse, and LGBTQIA+ individuals (which is no coincidence). We invite all adopted people, families, and comrades to get involved and support our movement building work!
