Adoption Literacy (AL) offers a transformative framework for counselors to ethically and competently support adult adoptees. Centered on the H.O.P.E. model—Humanize adoptee narratives, Own your part in the story, Promote adoptee-specific resources, and Elevate adoptees into positions of influence—AL fosters healing, empowerment, and systemic change.
